Requirements
1. Students must be Sophomores OR Juniors.
2. Students must maintain a 92% OR 3.68 GPA.
3. Students must complete, document, and submit 30 hours of Community Service a year (15 a semester).
4. Students must demonstrate strong character and leadership qualities as determined by Westlake's Faculty.
5. Students must attend EVERY NHS Meeting, only 1 UNEXCUSED absence allowed.

Dismissal/Demerits
Students can be dismissed from NHS or receive demerits for violating any of the four pillars mentioned in the "About" section. Members reaching FIVE (5) Demerits will result in dismissal from the organization. Officers, and Officer Elects, reaching TWO (2) Demerits will result in the loss of position.
1. Unexcused Absence = 1 Demerit
2. 2 Unexcused Tardies = 1 Demerit
3. Failure to participate at volunteer/philanthropic events = 2 Demerits
4. Failure to maintain a positive attitude and complying with all rules (in/out of Westlake) = 3 Demerits
5. Failure to obtain 30 community service hours PER year = 2 Demerits
Immediate dismissal from NHS is possible by:
1. Falsifying community service hours
2. Falling below the required 92% or 3.68 GPA
All dismissal and demerit claims are subject to the discretion of the sponsor, Ms. Griffin.

Chapter Dues
All members are required to pay $150 in dues that will be used for: renewal of chapter with the NASSP, community service events, philanthropic causes as determined by the council and sponsor, transportation to/from community service events, food/beverages during some meetings, as well as graduation stoles and diploma seals. Depending on the year, this may not cover ALL events.
Dues will be paid as follows:
1. Prior to Induction Ceremony = $50
2. By December of the student's Junior Year = $50
3. By December of the student's Senior Year = $50
Failure to pay dues by December of his/her senior year will result in the student not receiving a stole/diploma seal for the graduation ceremony.
